The AP-505 is a versatile stereo power amplifier based on a high performance TEAC Hypex Ncore module.
Capable of bi-amp and BTL (Bridge Tied Load/Bridged) operation, in addition to conventional stereo mode, the AP-505 produces a maximum output power of 130W + 130W stereo/bi-amp and 250W in BTL/bridged mode. At its heart is an Ncore power amplifier unit, manufactured by Hypex in the Netherlands and specially tuned by TEAC's R&D team, for exceptional sound quality

The AP-505 uses a highly energy efficient Hypex Ncore amplifier module, which produces 130W + 130W in stereo/bi-amp modes or 250W in BTL mode. The unit, which has undergone extensive listening tests before being carefully tuned and tweaked by engineers, easily drives a wide range of speakers, offering anything from a pianissimo to a fortissimo, and everything in between. In other words, it correctly reproduces the real dynamics of the sound.
Supports Stereo, Bi-amp and BTL modes
Not only for conventional stereo operation with 130W + 130W output power, this unit also provides flexible speaker driving, Bi-amp and BTL functions by placing a few AP-505 units side by side. Bi-amp mode drives the woofer and tweeter independently, while BTL mode produces 250W output power on each channel.
Full metal body with a small footprint for stability and elegance
Each outer panel - on the front, top and sides - is made of high-quality aluminum alloy, firmly bonded to the inner steel frame. This construction method helps to reduce the transmission of mechanical vibrations, ensuring that every component inside the unit is allowed to perform at its best. Thanks to its convenient A4 size, the AP-505 fits easily into modern interiors where appearance is important. This is in stark contrast to most conventional bi-amp/BTL capable power amps, which are typically bulky, full-width units.
Fully balanced design
Using a fully balanced circuit design from the input section to the output stage, the AP-505 keeps the audio signal as unadulterated as possible as it travels through the amplifier, resulting in extremely low distortion levels and an excellent signal to noise ratio (aided by the effective elimination of common-mode noise).
Carefully selected components, exclusively designed for hi-fi applications
At the input stage, where sound quality is fundamentally defined, dual high-quality MUSES8820E operational amplifiers are used for the XLR and RCA inputs. In the power supply section for the input stage, both the left and right channel rectification circuits are completely independent of the power transformer and use four high-capacity 4700μF capacitors in each channel (8 in total), achieving clear soundstage separation between channels.
In the XLR input section, well-designed circuitry provides excellent signal integrity, thanks in part to the elimination of coupling capacitors that can often lose audio information as a signal passes through them.
An oversized toroidal power transformer
In the power supply, the AP-505 uses a high-capacity spiral-core transformer, with barrier Schottky diodes in the "rectification" circuit. Unlike conventional diodes, Schottkys reduce rectifier noise, leading to a "cleaner" and more stable power supply.
Design passive cooling for quiet operation
It makes no sense to design an amplifier that delivers great sound to a pair of speakers, but generates annoying operating noise from a cooling fan on its own. From the beginning, TEAC engineers were determined to use a circuit and layout that would allow for adequate physical cooling, one that would allow for a powerful amplifier that would not need the aid of a cooling fan.
Dual analog level meters
The analog level meters on the front panel move according to signal levels, giving a visually pleasing "confirmation" that the amplifier is doing its job. A four-step dimmer (bright, medium, off) allows users to adjust the display volume to their taste, while switchable sensitivity (±0dB, +20dB, motion off) lets you enjoy more, less or even without counter movement if preferred..
